Description
The baptistry, located immediately north of the Holy Well of St Credan in Sancreed, is a ruin that likely dates back to the medieval period. It is constructed from granite moorstone and dressed granite, featuring a rectangular plan. The doorway is positioned towards the left side of the front, which faces south. The structure is partly built into the bank at the rear, and remnants of simple rubble walls can be seen, surviving in places to about 1 metre high. Near the former doorway lies a monolithic chamfered round arched door-head. This site is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
