Description
ST BURYAN TREGONEBRIS SW 42 NW 5/312 - Gate-piers and flanking walls in front of Tregonebris Farmhouse GV II Gate-piers, flanking walls and gate to smaller gateway. Circa early C19 and mid C19. Granite ashlar with granite dressings and granite rubble to walls adjoining smaller gateway. Walls on 2 sides of a garden: in front of the original south front of the house and in front of the present mid-C19 east front. Wide gateway to east front has square- on-plan pier and flanking concave quadrant-on-plan low walls with square-on-plan terminal piers. Other walls return at right angles behind the left-hand side and have narrow gateway with slender square-on-plan piers aligned with original C18 doorway of house. Principal (east) gateway has rock-faced plinth cavetto moulded copings and similar pyramidal caps. Other gateway has steep pyramidal caps to the monolithic piers. Circa early C19 wrought iron gate with remains of rounded decoration to the lock rail. Set-into the rubble wall left of the gateway are a granite cider press base and a granite cider crushing wheel.
