Description

SANCREED SW 42 NW 5/283 Trevorian Old Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C18. Dressed coursed granite rubble with snecks, at the front, otherwise granite rubble with large moorstone dressings. Fairly steep scantle slate roof (formerly thatched) sweeping lower over outshut at rear left. Tall dressed granite chimneys over the gable ends. Eaves heightened slightly circa C20; surviving kneeler stones indicate that gables were originally coped. Corrugated iron roof over adjoining outbuilding. Play: L-shaped plan with originally 2 rooms at the front flanking probably a lobby entrace (now 1 room) and stair and a service room in an integral outshut (partly rebuilt in the (C20). Later outhouse on the right. Exterior: 2 storeys. Slightly asymmetrical 2-window south front with approximately central doorway. Old ledged (now loose) door, C19 12-pane hornless sashes (with high meeting rails) to ground floor openings and C19 12-pane casements to first floor openings. Interior: Large granite fireplace at left-hand end has wooden lintel over the opening and a domed corbelled stone oven behind the left-hand jamb; C18 bowtell- moulded ceiling beams.
