Description
Trevorian Old Farmhouse is a 18th-century farmhouse located in Sancreed. It is constructed of dressed coursed granite rubble with snecks at the front, while the rest is made of granite rubble with large moorstone dressings. The farmhouse features a fairly steep scantle slate roof, which was formerly thatched, and it sweeps lower over an outshut at the rear left. Tall dressed granite chimneys are positioned over the gable ends. The eaves were slightly heightened around the 20th century, and surviving kneeler stones indicate that the gables were originally coped. There is a corrugated iron roof over an adjoining outbuilding.
The building has an L-shaped plan, originally consisting of two rooms at the front, likely flanking a lobby entrance (now combined into one room), along with a stair and a service room in an integral outshut, which has been partly rebuilt in the 20th century. There is a later outhouse on the right side. The exterior is two storeys high and features a slightly asymmetrical two-window south front with an approximately central doorway. The ground floor has an old ledged door (now loose) and 19th-century 12-pane hornless sash windows with high meeting rails, while the first floor has 19th-century 12-pane casements.
Inside, there is a large granite fireplace at the left-hand end, which has a wooden lintel over the opening and a domed corbelled stone oven behind the left-hand jamb. The interior also features 18th-century bowtell-moulded ceiling beams.
