Description

SANCREED SW 42 NW 5/272 Higher Drift Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C18. Granite ashlar front, otherwise granite rubble with granite dressings. Grouted scantle slate roof (replaced with asbestos slate at the front); half-hipped roof on the left, hipped on the right. Tall brick chimneys over the side walls and over gable end of service wing. Plan: Overall U-shaped plan with 2 parlours flanking an entrance hall at the front: deeper best parlour on the left with service room behind in rear outshut stair hall behind entrance hall; shallow parlour on the right with large pantry behind (partly in rear wing) and kitchen in wing at right angles behind. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3 window south-east front with central doorway. Flat arches over ground floor openings. C20 door, circa early C20 6-pane horned sashes. Interior: C18 dog-leg stair with slender turned balusters and some C18 2-panel doors.
