Description
Little Kenegie is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century. It features a granite ashlar front, while the rest of the building is made of granite rubble with granite dressings. The roof is covered with scantle slate and has brick chimneys over granite stacks at the gable ends. The front has projecting eaves with a moulded wooden cornice.
The farmhouse has a double-depth plan, with a parlour on the left and a kitchen on the right, connected by a cross passage that leads to a central stair and shallow rear service rooms on either side. The exterior is two storeys high and nearly symmetrical, with a three-window south front and a central doorway. The door and porch are from the 20th century, and there are 20th-century four-pane horned sash windows. There is also an early 19th-century or possibly original 16-pane hornless sash window in the stair area at the rear.
Inside, the layout remains unaltered, featuring an original dog-leg stair, bowtell moulded beams in the kitchen, and some two-panel doors.
