Description

Trewen Mill is probably of the 18th century, and comprises a mill and millhouse. The building is constructed of stone rubble, with a rendered and painted front, and has a slate roof with gable ends. A stone rubble end stack is located on the left. The original layout is uncertain, but it likely features a one-room plan house to the left, heated by the end stack, with an attached mill to the right. A leat runs to the rear of the house, and a small outshut on the front right was originally used as a shippon. The front facade is asymmetrical, with two windows. The house to the left has a 20th-century door flanked by two 20th-century three-light casements, with two further 20th-century casements on the first floor. A lean-to outshut is positioned on the front right. The rear elevation is notably unspoiled, with a small outshut extension to the rear of the house. The interior has not been inspected. The building holds group value as an example of a rural mill and millhouse complex.
