Description

Trewen Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th to early 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble, rendered on the front, with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends. Stone rubble end stacks are present. The original plan comprised two rooms and a cross passage, with a small outshut added circa 1800 to the rear of the right-hand room, and a stair likely added to the rear of the passage.

The two-storey front has an almost symmetrical three-window arrangement. A circa 1800 plank door with a slate hood is centrally positioned. Late 19th or 20th-century three-light and two-light casement windows are on the ground floor to the left and right respectively. The first floor has two circa 1800 two-light casements flanking a central circa 1800 one-light casement.

Inside, the passage has circa 1800 wood-boarded partitions on either side. Ceiling beams are covered by later ceilings. The left-hand room features a granite surround to the fireplace, with a circa 1800 mantel-shelf.
