Description
Two barns located 10 to 30 metres southwest of West Tremollett Farmhouse date from the late 18th century and 1877, as indicated by a datestone. The buildings are constructed of stone rubble, with the later barn featuring granite quoins and dressings. Both barns have slate roofs with hipped ends.
The earlier barn has a rectangular plan and includes shippons or a stable on the ground floor with a loft above. The later barn is attached at right angles and also has a rectangular plan, featuring shippons on the ground floor and a threshing floor above. The ground rises to the rear, and the entrance to the threshing floor is directly from the yard at the back.
The earlier barn is two storeys high and rendered on the left side. Its ground floor window and door openings are asymmetrically placed, while the first floor has loft doors to the left and ventilation slits to the right. The later barn is also two storeys tall at the front, with some ground floor openings partly blocked. The granite lintels are well cut, and there are loft doors to the right of centre, along with two window openings and a row of pigeon holes below the eaves. The datestone reads 'RK 1877'. The interior has not been inspected.
