Description

This disused farmhouse, located to the south of the farm at East Tremollett, dates back to 1769, although it may have earlier origins. The building is constructed of stone rubble with dressed stone quoins, and the front is rendered. It features a cement washed rag and scantle slate roof with gable ends, along with a stone rubble end stack on the left and a brick shaft for the end stack on the right.

The farmhouse has a two-room layout with a cross or through passage, heated by the end stacks. There are later 18th and 19th century outshuts at the rear and on both ends of the building. The exterior is two storeys high and has an almost symmetrical three-window front. A 20th-century door with a slate hipped hood is flanked by two 20th-century windows that have dressed stone arches and remnants of slate strings. To the right of the window, there is an incised datestone. The first floor has a 20th-century window to the left and remains of 19th-century two-light casements in the centre and to the right.

On the left side, there is a rendered lean-to outshut, while the right side features a circa 19th-century outshut with dressed granite quoins, a door opening on the ground floor, and a window above. In front of the house, there is a circa 19th-century stone rubble garden wall with moulded granite coping, enclosing a small garden area.

Inside, the left room has an unmoulded timber lintel over the fireplace and a cloam oven. The right room features a granite chamfered surround to the fireplace, although the ceiling beams are not visible. The roof appears to have been replaced in the 19th century, but it has not been fully inspected.
