Description

This milestone, likely dating from around 1864, is a painted dressed granite monolith. It has a triangular shape on the shaft and a rectangular base. The two rectangular sides of the shaft face the road at an angle and rise from large pyramid stops. Each side features incised lettering and Arabic numerals. The top of the milestone is pyramidal. The left side is inscribed with "PENZANCE 10, LANDS END 20," while the right side reads "HELSTON 3, FALMOUTH 15." Additionally, there is an Ordnance Survey bench mark above the left-hand side inscription.
