Description

This is a milestone, likely dating from around 1864, made of painted dressed granite. It has a triangular shaft that sits on a rectangular base. The two rectangular sides of the shaft face the road at an angle and rise from large pyramid stops. Each side features incised lettering and Arabic numerals. The pyramidal head completes the structure. The left side of the milestone has the inscriptions: "PENZANCE 8, LANDS END 18," while the right side reads: "HELSTON 5, FALMOUTH 17."
