Description

Trelissick is a house with an associated garden wall and wash house, dating from around the mid-19th century. The front of the house features coarsed dressed granite, while the rest is painted rubble with dressed granite quoins, jambstones, sills, and lintels. It has an asbestos slate roof with rendered chimneys on the gable ends. The house has a double-depth plan, consisting of two equal front rooms on either side of a through passage that leads to a central rear stair hall, with shallow service rooms behind each front room.

To the left of the house, a garden wall runs along the boundary with the road and returns at a right angle to form part of the property line. There is a gateway at the rear left corner of the house, and next to it is a single-storey wash house. The house is two storeys tall and has a symmetrical three-window front facing southwest, with a central doorway that features a 20th-century door. The original windows are 12-pane hornless sashes, present both at the front and rear.

The garden wall is made of slurried rubble with a rubble coping and is ramped up near the house, with a doorway leading to the garden at the corner. The wash house has painted rubble walls, a grouted scantle slate roof with gable ends, and a brick chimney on the left gable end. The southwest front of the wash house includes a rounded corner, a small window on the left, and a doorway. A round-headed gate pier, part of a pair flanking the rear courtyard gateway, is located between the window and door. Overall, Trelissick is an attractive property, enhanced by the well-preserved wash house and garden wall.
