Description
This is a small house with associated front garden walls, dating from the early 19th century. The house is constructed of granite rubble, with dressed granite used for quoins, jambstones, sills, and lintels. It has a half-hipped scantle slate roof, with a brick chimney on each side wall, and cast-iron ogee gutters.
The original plan likely consisted of two rooms deep on the north-east side and one room to the full depth on the right. A through passage and staircase separate the rooms, with a later lean-to added to the right-hand end. The front facade has one window at the entrance, with a doorway and window above, positioned to the left of the centre. An original window opening exists to the left of the doorway, while later 20th-century window openings or enlargements are to the right. The window above the doorway is an original two-light casement with a fanlight and small panes of original glass, set within a round-headed granite arch with a keyed brick arch. A 20th-century door and windows are present. The rear of the house has a two-window, nearly symmetrical "garden front" featuring circa late 19th or 20th-century four-pane horned sash windows. The interior was not inspected.
A rubble coped rubble wall runs along the roadside. It incorporates square, on-plan granite gate piers with pointed heads, flanking a gateway aligned with the through passage of the house. The house is located close to the church. The surviving original window is of particular interest.
