Description

Adit House is a small house dating from the 18th century, featuring painted rubble and cob walls. It has a wheat reed thatched roof with a stone gable end stack on the left, which has been heightened with brick, and a brick chimney over the gable end on the right. The house has a two-room plan, consisting of a kitchen/living room on the left and a parlour on the right, with a probable entrance lobby indicated by a stain between the two rooms. A small 20th-century lean-to has been added on the right side.

The building stands two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical two-window south-west front. The doorway and windows are grouped slightly closer to the right. There is a 20th-century granite rubble porch with a rounded thatched roof that connects to the main roof, along with a 20th-century door and windows. Adit House is notable for being one of only two houses still thatched in Germoe parish.
