Description
This is a chimney that served a former china clay works, dating from the late 19th century. It features a lower stage made of granite rubble and an upper stage constructed of brick. The chimney has a round plan and includes walls that converge to a flue on the west side, which leads from the ruins of a large clay drying building that is not included in this listing. The chimney is tall and tapered, with a moulded brick collar between its two stages. It is one of three surviving chimneys associated with the once extensive china clay works at Wheal Grey, and these are the only remnants of clay works in west Cornwall.
