Description

This milestone, likely dating from around 1864, is a painted dressed granite monolith. It has a triangular-shaped vertical shaft that sits on a rectangular base. The two rectangular sides of the shaft face the road at an angle and rise from large pyramidal stops. Each side features incised lettering and Arabic numerals. The top of the milestone is finished with a pyramidal head. The left side is inscribed with "PENZANCE 11, LANDS END 21," while the right side reads "HELSTON 2, FALMOUTH 14."
