Description
Tregew Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of killas rubble with dressed granite used for the quoins, sills, jambstones, and lintels. The roof is half-hipped and covered with slurried scantle slate, featuring brick chimneys on the side walls. The building has a double depth plan, with two equal front rooms on either side of a central cross passage that leads to a central stair, situated between rear service rooms: a back kitchen on the left and a pantry on the right. Above the pantry, there is a room with a blocked doorway that once provided access to an appled loft over the adjacent outbuilding on the right. A two-storey 20th-century extension is located at right angles to the middle of the rear. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front facing approximately south, with a central doorway set within an original hipped-roofed stone open-fronted porch. The original six-panel door features flush beading on the bottom panels and a fluted lock rail. The windows are later four-pane horned sashes fitted into the original unaltered openings. The interior has not been inspected. The farmhouse is situated in unspoiled coastal farmland and has seen little alteration since the 19th century.
