Description

Chapel View is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It features painted killas rubble and cob walls, with slate sills and wooden lintels. The roof is half-hipped and covered with grouted scantle slate, supported by brick chimneys on the side walls. The building has a double-depth plan, with the main rooms on either side of a central stair hall and secondary service rooms located behind. It is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical three-window south front. The windows are 4-pane hornless sashes, which are likely original but were previously 16-pane windows before the intermediate glazing bars were removed. The doorway is slightly off-centre to the left and may have been narrowed; it features a top-glazed 4-panel door. There is a cast iron ogee gutter, and the first-floor sills are not much higher than the ground floor lintels. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to be little altered.
