Description

Greensplatt House is a house built in the early 19th century, with an extension added around the mid-19th century. It includes a garden wall to the southeast. The house is constructed from green slatestone, laid in courses, with dressed granite used for the quoins, sills, jambstones, and lintels. The roof is hipped and covered with asbestos slate, featuring adjoining hipped-roof wings at the rear. There are brick chimneys on the side walls and the rear wall.

Originally, the house had an L-shaped plan with two equal reception rooms on either side of a passage, and a staircase located behind the left-hand room within an integral service wing. A similar wing was added behind the right-hand room around the mid-19th century. An outbuilding at the rear was remodeled and joined to the house in the 20th century. The symmetrical south front has three windows, each with hornless 16-pane sash windows. The central doorway now features a 16-pane sash as well. Internal window shutters are present, and there is a continuous granite ashlar course at lintel level. There is also a doorway on the side wall of the right (east) wing, which has a porch supported by iron columns.

The garden wall, dating from the late 19th century, is made of rock-faced granite piers and copings, and it incorporates a flattened ogee reused granite archstone over the doorway.
