Description
This is an early to mid-19th century house with front garden walls. The walls are likely built over dressed granite, with slate sills. The roof is asbestos slate, featuring slightly projecting eaves at the front, and brick chimneys on the gable ends. The house follows a double-depth plan, incorporating two nearly equal front rooms flanking a nearly central cross passage, which probably leads to a central stair between two shallower rear service rooms. A 20th-century extension adjoins the rear left-hand corner.
The south front is symmetrical with three windows and a central doorway. The doorway is set within a 20th-century porch, featuring arched lights and an entablature to the fascia. Original 12-pane hornless sash windows remain. The interior has not been inspected.
The front garden walls are built from rubble and are topped with coping. A low granite ashlar wall with a central gateway extends across the front of the garden, featuring square gate piers with moulded caps. A 20th-century iron gate and railings are present. The house was originally very similar to Sunnyside and, despite some remodelling, makes an important contribution to the surrounding group.
