Description
Ivy Cottage and the front garden wall are a house and garden wall dating from the early 19th century. The structure features mixed rubble walls with dressed granite quoins, jambstones, sills, and lintels. It has an asbestos slate roof with brick chimneys at the gable ends and cast iron ogee gutters.
The house has a double depth plan with two equal rooms at the front and a cross passage leading to a central stair that connects to rear service rooms. It is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window east road front with a central doorway, alongside a high wall of a later outbuilding on the right. The original six-panel door has the top two panels later glazed, and there are later four-pane horned sash windows.
The interior was not inspected. The rubble garden walls enclose a rectangular front garden, which features a gateway aligned with the front door, and granite monolith round-headed gate piers.
