Description

BIBURY A433, Arlington SP 1006-1106 (north side) 11/17 Ivy Cottage including garden wall II Detached house. Early C19. Coursed rubble limestone; yellow brick chimneys; stone slate roof, concrete tile to outbuilding. Two-storey with attic; single-storey with attic rear outshut; 2- storey outbuilding to east incorporating garage. Front: 3-window fenestration, mostly C19 4-pane sashes in small plain openings. Doorway right of centre with 6-panel egg and dart enriched fielded door. Unusual porch with oriental-looking shaped pediment and narrow entablature containing 'IVY COTTAGE' in raised serif lettering. Two attenuated Ionic columns. Three ridge-mounted chimneys. Outbuilding has latticed C20 casements and plank garage doors with concrete lintel. Smooth rendered garden wall topped by hooped iron railings; gate matching. Weathered caps to piers with ogee finials, some missing. Rear: outshut with gabled roof dormer. Gabled dormer to main roof slope. Interior not inspected.
