Description
Ivy Cottage is a house and cottage located on High Green in Great Ayton, dating from the early 18th century. The building is constructed of large coursed sandstone and features a pantiled roof with stone elements. It stands two storeys high with an attic and consists of one and two bays, giving it a large scale. The property has later inserted six-panel doors within plain surrounds, while the original doorway is likely now used as a window. The windows are sash style, with those on the right side featuring glazing bars, and two are set in raised alternating block surrounds. Above the door of Ivy Cottage, there is a small inserted window. The building has a moulded wooden eaves cornice, a fairly high-pitched swept roof with copings and square kneelers, two rebuilt ridge chimneys, and three modern dormers.
