Description
Acorn is a house dating from the early 18th century, located on the east side of High Green in Great Ayton. It is constructed from local yellowish-pink brick and sits on a large stone plinth, with stone dressings. The roof has been renewed with large modern clay pantiles and features a brick stack. The building has two storeys and two wide windows. The plinth reaches the ground floor cill level. There is a central six-panel door framed by large alternating block jambs and a plain lintel, which may have been replaced. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set under flat gauged brick arches with keystones and have projecting stone cills. A central ridge stack is also present.
