Description

The Cottage is a small house in a row, dating to the early 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, with a rebuilt brick chimney and a stone slate roof. The house is single-storey with an attic. The front elevation features a single two-light recessed window with chamfered mullions, and a smaller window in the attic within a half gable. A doorway to the right has a timber lintel and plank door. A tall chimney is situated on the ridge, adjacent to the north gable end of Jasmine Cottage. The rear features a half gable with a two-light attic casement mirroring the front. A large flat-roofed rear addition is not of particular architectural interest. The interior has not been inspected. The building holds group value as an early example of vernacular architecture in Bibury.
