Description
Two adjoining houses, Treworlas House and Karinya, with front garden walls, were likely built around the early 19th century. The walls are constructed from roughly coursed granite rubble, with dressed granite used for quoins, jambstones, sills, and lintels. Treworlas House has a slurried scantle slate roof, with a cast-iron ogee gutter, while Karinya has an asbestos slate roof. Brick chimneys are located over the gable ends and along the party wall.
Each of the houses follows a double-depth plan, featuring two main front rooms with a cross passage leading to a central staircase, which in turn serves shallower rear service rooms. Treworlas House is wider, with a wider left-hand front room.
Both houses have nearly symmetrical frontages, each with a nearly central doorway. Treworlas House has three windows on the first floor, while Karinya has two. The windows of Treworlas House are horned sashes, whereas Karinya has 20th-century Gothic-style casements and 20th-century doors. The interiors were not inspected.
The front garden walls are granite coped and include round-headed granite monolith piers.
