Ivy Cottage Wardies

Ivy Cottage and Wardies are two houses, originally three, dating from the mid 18th century and early 19th century. They feature painted brick walls and a steep slate roof. The eastern side of the front (south) has an extension from the early 19th century, with two storeys and four windows above three. The roof is hipped, with a catslide at part of the rear. The older section has walls in Flemish bond, a band at the first floor, cambered openings on the ground floor, and a plinth. The rear outshot displays some exposed framing. The windows include 19th century sashes in exposed frames and 20th century casements that imitate sashes on the eastern side. The doorways are plain, with the central entrance featuring a six-panelled door (two top panels glazed) and the others having four panels, with the eastern door set beneath an arch. Above the middle entrance, a former window has been fitted in, and to its west side is a stone plaque inscribed with the year 1733.
