Description

Ivall’s Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, with 20th-century extensions added at each end. The building has brick walls and a thatched roof, with some tiled sections. The north front, facing the street, is two storeys high with three windows, and a single-storey projection situated between the first and second bays. The roof is hipped at the west end and lowers to the eaves over an outshot; the rear eaves are broken by eyebrow dormers. The projection has a hipped tile roof and a stack. The walls are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with cambered ground-floor openings, and the projection features blue headers. The windows are casements. A late 20th-century doorway has been created at an angle. A garage block with a thatched roof sits at the west end. The rear walls show alterations, including some brickwork in English bond and a flint base. The central fireplace suggests the building might have earlier origins, possibly dating back to the 17th century as a lobby-entrance house.
