Description

Backmeadow is a large stable and cartshed, dating from the early 19th century and restored in the late 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond, with a tile roof. The building is L-shaped, consisting of a large two-storied block, originally a stable, set at a right angle to the road, and a lower, long structure, originally a cartshed, running alongside the road. The stable block has a hipped roof and brick dentil eaves. The cartshed roof is low at the roadside. The west side of the stable block has openings that now contain domestic windows. The interior of the cartshed is a long, open room with exposed framing. A small service block is attached to the outer angle of the building. It is included on the list for its group value.
