Description
No. 9 Vicarage Road is a house dating from the early 19th century, one of two similar adjoining houses. It is constructed from killas rubble with granite dressings and features slate sills. The roof is made of asbestos slate and has projecting eaves supported by moulded wooden brackets. There are brick chimneys located over the left gable end and over the right cross party wall.
The house has an L-shaped plan, consisting of two nearly equal front rooms with a cross passage between them, and a one-room service wing that extends at right angles to the rear left. It stands two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front facing north, featuring a central doorway with a 20th-century glazed door. The original windows are 12-pane hornless sashes.
The interior has not been inspected. This house is part of a semi-planned group around a triangular village green, which is now enclosed.
