Description
Wheal Clifford Powder House, part of the United Mines, is a gunpowder storage house built in the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed from lime-washed killas rubble and features timber lintels and a scantle slate roof with a finial. The building has a round single-cell plan and is a single storey in height. There is a doorway to the north, which is now boarded up, and a window to the northeast. This powder house is a remarkably intact example of a very rare building type and is located away from other structures to minimize the risk of explosion.
