Description

Tregunno Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that was extended in the 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble walls with granite dressings and slate sills. The original part of the farmhouse has a concrete tiled roof, while the extensions to either side have gable-ended roofs, the right-hand one being lower-pitched and covered with slurried scantle slates.

The original layout was a two-room plan with a central cross passage leading to the staircase. The kitchen was on the left, and the parlour on the right. The kitchen is deeper and accommodates the staircase, with a portion within an integral outshut. A small pantry may have existed at one time, separated from the kitchen by a partition. In the 19th century, additional rooms were added to both ends, with the left-hand room likely serving as a dairy and the right-hand end incorporating a lean-to and a small earth closet.

The front elevation is approximately three windows wide. The original front has a nearly symmetrical two-window arrangement with a central doorway, alongside a regular one-window front of the 19th-century extension to the right. A recessed doorway and a set-back bay are at the left-hand end, with lean-to additions on the right. Most of the doors and windows are 20th-century replacements, except for circa mid-19th century hornless six-pane sashes to the ground floor of the original front. A small, blocked window is present on the rear elevation, overlooking the stair part of the outshut. The interior retains some original 18th-century first-floor structure, including bowtell moulded beams. Fireplaces have been partly blocked. The first floor was not inspected.
