Description
26 and 28 Meneage Street is a town house with later shops, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a front made of elvan ashlar with granite dressings, including shallow segmental arches, rusticated quoins, and a mid-floor string. The building has a steep asbestos slate roof with brick end stacks and a U-shaped plan that includes wings at right angles to the rear. It is two storeys high and has a five-window range, which was probably originally a symmetrical five-window front with a central doorway. On the left side, there are three original or early 19th-century twelve-pane hornless sash windows. No. 26 has a 20th-century traditional-style shop front with an arched light, while No. 28 features a large 20th-century shop front with a replaced string above. The interior has not been inspected.
