Description
No. 20 Meneage Street is a late 18th-century town house that has been adapted for use as a shop. The building features a front made of granite ashlar with a plinth, segmental arches adorned with projecting keyblocks, a mid-floor string course, and a parapet topped with a moulded cornice. It has a hipped roof covered in asbestos slate and granite ashlar stacks at the ends. The structure has a U-shaped plan that includes rear wings set at right angles, with a deeper wing on the left side. It stands two storeys tall and originally had a symmetrical five-window front, but now includes a shop front that replaces two of the ground-floor windows on the right. The building retains original or early 19th-century twelve-pane hornless sash windows and features a central rusticated doorway with an original eight-pane door and a spoked fanlight with a flat head. A late 20th-century shop front has been added. The interior has not been inspected.
