Description

This is a shop with living accommodation above, dating to the 1860s. The front of the building is faced with stucco, featuring panelled pilasters at the ends of the first floor and a parapet with a moulded cornice. An inscription reading “WALTER” is visible on the parapet. The roof is hidden, and a brick stack is present on the right side. The building follows a double-depth plan with a rear wing. It is two storeys high and has a single window facing the street. The first floor has a central, canted oriel window with horned sashes, a moulded cornice, and a slate roof. The ground floor features a late 19th-century shop front with a pilastered design, and a house doorway on the left side, both set beneath a full-width fascia with a moulded cornice supported by consoles. The house doorway has an overlight with margin panes and a panelled door. The shop front has a lower doorway with a plain overlight and a glazed door, with the heads of the lights concealed behind a 20th-century fascia. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included in the listing for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
