Description
29 River Street is a town house built in the early 19th century. It features a front made of granite ashlar and has a natural slate roof with projecting eaves. There is a brick stack on the left and a gable end on the right. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window front. The original windows are 12-pane hornless sashes set under shallow segmental arches, and there are paired wooden brackets beneath the moulded eaves soffit. The ground floor has an early 20th-century double shop front, which includes a central wide splayed doorway with original glazed doors, plain end pilasters, and consoles supporting a fascia with a moulded cornice. The interior of the shop has been altered in the 20th century, and the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
