Description

No. 9 River Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 19th century and features stucco on studwork with an asbestos slate roof and a brick axial stack. The building has a deep plan that has likely been altered to accommodate the shop. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range. The original windows are sixteen-pane hornless sashes set within moulded wooden architraves, and there is a moulded eaves cornice. The ground floor showcases a Victorian-style mid-20th century double shop front, which includes an overlight above a panelled door on the left. The interior has been altered in the 20th century, but it was not inspected further.
