Description
No. 6 River Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 19th century and features a stucco front on studwork, with an asbestos slate roof. The building has a deep plan and includes a pair of wings that extend at right angles to the rear. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window range, with quoin strips on the corners. The second floor retains original 12-pane hornless sash windows set within moulded wooden architraves. The first floor has late 19th-century bay windows with horned 2-pane sashes and moulded cornices. The ground floor has a 20th-century double shop front with a wide doorway, along with another doorway at the far left that features a 20th-century door and overlight. The interior has been altered in the 20th century, and the rest of the interior was not inspected.
