Description

This is an early 19th-century town house, now used as a shop. It is located on River Street in Truro. The front of the building is stuccoed over a timber frame, with a hidden roof and projecting eaves. The building has a deep plan and a symmetrical three-window facade arranged over four storeys. It is distinguished by quoin strips and original hornless 12-pane sash windows set within moulded wooden architraves. Ornate eaves brackets flank the windows, and a dividing frieze incorporates triglyphs between the windows and corners. A large, traditional-style shop front was installed in the 20th century, featuring pilasters, a tall fascia, and a moulded cornice. The interior was altered in the 20th century, and the remainder of the interior was not inspected as part of the listing process.
