Description
The Blacksmith's Shop is a blacksmith's shop dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from killas and granite rubble, with some cob, and features a steep corrugated asbestos roof that may have originally been half-hipped and thatched, but now has gable ends.
The building has an overall L-shaped plan, with an original rectangular structure that has a later extension at right angles in front of the right-hand side. It is a single-storey building with one window on the north-west front. The front was likely originally a symmetrical two-window design, but the right-hand part of the wall was removed when the later 19th or 20th-century extension was added. Currently, there is a window on the left featuring vertical glazing bars and random panes, and a wide doorway to the right of the window with ledged doors. There is a similar window at the left-hand end of the building. An iron shaping cone stands outside.
The interior has not been inspected but is reported to be unaltered.
