Description
The Thatched Cottage is a house, likely originally a farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It features rendered cob walls and a wheat reed thatched roof, with brick chimneys located at the gable ends; the right-hand chimney is situated over a large external chimney breast. The building has a two-room layout with an entrance lobby or cross passage between the rooms. The slightly larger room, probably the kitchen, is on the right, while the parlour is on the left. A former lean-to at the rear was remodeled in the 20th century. The cottage is two storeys high and has a slightly irregular three-window south front, with the doorway positioned slightly to the left of the center. Each first-floor window is located above a ground-floor opening, and there is a buttress to the left of the doorway. The old four-panel door has been later glazed in the top panels. The windows are 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, set in their original openings. The interior has not been inspected.
