Description
This guide post, dating from the early 20th century, is made of cast iron and features a round shaft. The shaft has embossed letters and four adjustable pointers, each with rounded corners, attached to the upper part of the shaft above a moulded cornice. The finial at the top of the shaft is missing. The vertical inscription on the shaft reads "CORNWALL." The pointers indicate distances to various locations: the north-west pointer points to HIGHER PENPOL at 1½ miles, the south-west pointer points to HELFORD PASSAGE at 1¼ miles, PORTH NAVAS at 2¼ miles, and CONSTANTINE at 4 miles. The south-east pointer indicates BOSVEAL at ¼ mile, BOSLOE at ¼ mile, and DURGAN at ¾ mile. The north-east pointer shows NAWNAN SMITE at ½ mile, PENRYN at 5 miles, and FALMOUTH at 5 miles.
