Description
Thatched Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of rendered and painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a thatched roof featuring hipped ends. There is a brick end stack on the right, and a 20th-century lean-to extension at the rear with a clay tiled roof.
The layout consists of a two-room and passage plan, with a larger hall kitchen on the right that is heated by the end stack, and a smaller room on the left, which may have originally been unheated and could serve as a parlour or service room. A late 20th-century service outshot has been added across the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front featuring two windows. There is a 20th-century replacement door, likely accompanied by a late 19th or 20th-century open porch. To the left, there is a 20th-century casement window, and to the right, a 19th or 20th-century casement. On the first floor, there are two late 19th-century casements.
Inside, the right-hand room has chamfered ceiling beams and remnants of a partition on the right side of the passage.
