Description
Myrtle Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century. It is constructed from rendered and painted stone, rubble, and cob, topped with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends. The building has a two-room and cross passage layout, with a larger hall-kitchen on the left heated by a stone rubble end stack, and a smaller unheated room on the right.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical front with two windows, which are 19th-century two-light casements. There is a late 19th-century door located to the right of the center, accompanied by a 20th-century porch. The rear elevation features a window from around the 18th century with early leaded glass. Inside, there are chamfered floor joists from the 17th century. The roof structure has not been inspected. The cottage retains especially unaltered and unspoilt front and rear elevations.
