Description

This is a farmhouse, likely dating to around the middle of the 17th century, with later additions from the early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and cob, with rag slate roofs featuring gable ends. A parallel slate roof to the rear is also gabled, and brick end stacks are present.

Originally, the house was built on a two-room and through-passage plan, with a larger hall-kitchen on the left side and a smaller parlour to the right, both heated by end stacks. In the early 19th century, the house was extended to the rear and reoriented. This newer two-room range, with a central passage, now accommodates the main rooms, again heated by end stacks. The original parlour was converted into a dairy, and the hall-kitchen became a back kitchen.

The symmetrical, two-window front of the 19th-century range features a 20th-century door near the centre, flanked by a two-light casement window on the left and a three-light casement window on the right. Two two-light casement windows are on the first floor. The earlier 17th-century range has a regular, two-window front with an entrance on the right side, though the windows are 20th-century replacements.

Inside the earlier rear range, there are chamfered 17th-century floor joists. The fireplace lintel in the original hall-kitchen is chamfered and has run-out stops. The interior has not been fully inspected.
