Description

This is a house located in Copthorne, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and cob, rendered and painted, with rag slate hanging on the left side. The roof is made of rag slate, featuring a gable end on the right and a hipped end on the left. There is a stone rubble end stack with a brick shaft on the right.

The house has a two-room single depth plan, with the entrance leading directly into a larger hall-kitchen on the right, which is heated by the end stack. To the left is a smaller unheated room, likely used as a dairy. A small back kitchen has been added as a lean-to outshut at the rear of the right-hand room.

The building is two storeys tall and has a regular two-window front, with the entrance positioned to the left of centre. There is a 19th-century open porch that features a late 18th-century panelled door. To the left, there is a 19th-century 16-pane sash window, and to the right, a 20-pane sash window. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century 16-pane sash windows.

Inside, the ceilings are plastered, and the internal partitions are complete.
