Description

This is a house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, located in North Petherwin, Clubworthy. It is built of stone rubble and cob, with the front face clad in slate and rag slates. The roof is slate, with gable ends, and topped with projecting stone rubble end stacks featuring brick shafts.

The house was originally designed with a 2-room and cross-passage plan, incorporating end stacks for heating; a larger hall kitchen was on the right, and a parlour to the left. Partitions at the rear of the parlour created a small, unheated service room. An outshut was added to the left-hand gable end in the 19th century.

The exterior features a nearly symmetrical 3-window front with 19th-century casement windows. The entrance is to the left of centre, with a likely 19th-century plank door, a 2-light casement to the left, and a 3-light casement to the right. Three 2-light casements are on the first floor. A 19th-century lean-to service outshut is on the left-hand gable end.

The interior is not accessible. Waney curved ceiling beams are chamfered. The hall kitchen fireplace on the right has been partially blocked, but the timber lintel remains chamfered, as does the lintel of the parlour fireplace.
