Description
Clubworthy Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating to the late 17th century, which has been extended in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from rendered and painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a thatched roof featuring stone rubble and brick chimneys at each end. The roofs of the 19th and 20th-century extensions are made of slate and asbestos slate.
The original layout likely consisted of a two-room and through passage plan, heated by end stacks, with a larger hall-kitchen on the right and a smaller parlour on the left. There is a one-room plan range adjoining to the right, which may be contemporary or a later addition. In the late 19th or 20th century, a parallel range was added at the rear of the earlier structure, likely on the site of an 18th-century service outshut. A single-storey extension was added to the right-hand end in the 20th century.
The exterior features two storeys with an asymmetrical three-window front. There is a 20th-century aluminium door frame to the left of centre, a 19th-century 20-pane sash window to the left, and an early 19th-century four-light casement window to the right. On the first floor, there are three early 19th-century three-light casement windows. The lower range to the right has a 20th-century window on the ground floor and two 20th-century gabled half dormers.
Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered, fairly slight floor joists and 20th-century grates in the fireplaces.
