Description

Crosswaters is a house that likely dates from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and cob, with the rear and side elevations painted. The roof is made of rag slate and features gable ends, while there is a stone rubble stack on the left-hand gable end. The house has a two-room plan with the entrance located near the center. Entering leads directly into the larger room on the left, which is heated by the end stack, while the smaller room on the right is unheated. There is a small 20th-century single-storey extension on the left end of the house.

The building stands two storeys high and has a regular two-window front elevation. On the left, there is a late 19th-century six-pane sash window, followed by a six-panel door near the center that has a slate hood above it, and a 20th-century window to the right. The first floor features a hornless mid-19th-century six-pane sash window on the left and a 19th-century one-light casement window on the right. The rear elevation facing the road includes a 19th-century 16-pane sash window on the ground floor and a 12-pane sash window above.

Inside, there are 19th-century ceiling beams and a 20th-century fireplace. A circa 19th-century partition is present on the ground floor. Overall, Crosswaters is an unaltered and unspoilt house from the mid-18th century.
