Description

North Petherwin Village Hall, originally a national school and school house, was built in 1844, as indicated by the datestone. It is constructed of local stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends. The building has a two-storey school house in a cross wing on the left, which is set slightly forward, and a single-storey school to the right that has a central entrance through the original porch.

The exterior showcases a regular 1:2 window arrangement. The single-storey school room on the right has a central gabled stone rubble porch with a four-centred arch and a plank door, flanked by two 20th-century three-light casements in earlier openings with dressed stone arches. The two-storey school room in the projecting gabled cross-wing to the left has an entrance on the right side with a four-centred arch. There is a boarded window opening on the ground floor and a three-light window above featuring diagonal leaded glazing bars. The right-hand gable end displays the datestone reading '1844, National School'.

In front, there are 19th-century stone rubble garden walls with square-on-plan gatepiers made of stone rubble. The interior has not been inspected.
